Audi sign Binotto as new chief executive, Seidl leaves

Audi are taking a big step as they are preparing for the 2026 season. Mattia Binotto has been appointed Chief Operating and Chief Technical Officer. This means that Andreas Seidl and Oliver Hoffmann are leaving.

In addition to his role as team principal at Ferrari, Binotto also has experience as an engineer in Ferrari's engine department and as Chief Technical Officer of the Scuderia. Gernot Döllner, the CEO of Audi AG, is enthusiastic about the arrival of the Italian: “With his extensive experience of more than 25 years in Formula 1, he will undoubtedly be able to make a decisive contribution for Audi.”

Döllner continued: “Our aim is to bring the entire Formula 1 project up to F1 speed by means of clear management structures, defined responsibilities, reduced interfaces, and efficient decision-making processes. For this purpose, the team must be able to act independently and quickly.”

Seidl and Hoffmann leave Audi F1 project 

The arrival of Binotto therefore also has an impact on Seidl [former CEO of Sauber Motorsport and Sauber Technologies, leader of the Audi project] and on Hoffman [former chairman of the board of directors of all Sauber companies]. They will no longer be part of the setup of the new Audi Formula 1 team.
