Important weekend approaches for Perez: 'I'm confident'
- Sandy van Wijngaarden
The Belgian Grand Prix weekend will be crucial for Sergio Perez. Indeed, after this race, Red Bull Racing will start making decisions about his future. In Hungary, the Mexican drove a strong race, but his qualifying was dramatic. Nevertheless, Perez is very confident about the upcoming race.
A crash during qualifying meant Sergio Perez was out again in Q1. This forced him to start the race from 16th place. In the end, he finished in seventh place, much to his own satisfaction. Looking ahead to the weekend in Spa-Francorchamps, the Mexican expressed a lot of confidence in himself.
Perez retains confidence in own performance
"The recovery we managed on Sunday in Hungary was very positive. I think it showed how comfortable I was in the car over the weekend and the potential we had. It’s frustrating that we didn’t get to fight for the podium, because we had the ability to be up there with the race performance we showed, the final stint was very promising," Perez said.
The Red Bull Racing driver badly needs a stable weekend. "Now it’s down to me to put the whole weekend together in Belgium and I am confident we can," Perez continued. "We are working well together as a Team and what my mechanics were able to do to rebuild my car overnight in Budapest shows the incredible hard work everyone puts in, day in and day out. There’s one race to go before the summer break and I want to repay my Team for last weekend with a good result, they are all that matters to me."
