Max Verstappen is Red Bull Racing's biggest source of points in the battle for the world championship among constructors. With Sergio Perez often failing to get close to the Dutchman, McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are able to take advantage. McLaren CEO Zak Brown sees that too, and talks about their chances in the constructors' championship.

McLaren are 51 points behind Red Bull in the Constructors' standings. Red Bull are on 389 points, and McLaren currently have 338. Out of those 389 Red Bull points, 265 come from Verstappen, and 124 from Perez. Brown does not say it is going to be an easy task, but the CEO does smell a chance in the constructors' championship.

Brown on McLaren in the championship

"We want to get to the first half of the season and see where we end up this weekend. I think the constructors championship while it's definitely not going to be easy as well within reach," he told Sky Sports in Belgium on Friday. "I think the challenge on the driver's front is Max's bad days or second third places and so to make those clawbacks that we're making on the constructors, we can do this."

"Perez is struggling at the moment. We also know he's capable of turning it on at any moment. So that'll be something I think we discuss over the summer break," Brown concluded about the driver McLaren let go earlier in his career, back in 2013.
