Beganovic wins F3 Sprint Race, Lindblad misses out on points at Spa
Dino Beganovic has won the Formula 3 Sprint Race on a wet track at Spa-Francorchamps. The Swede lost the lead after the start, but could reovertake Gabriele Mini. The Italian eventually finished second and earned important points in the championship. Noel Leon finished third.
Mini took the lead of from Beganovic, but later lost it on Lap 4 to his teammate Beganovic. Prema ordered the young Italian over the team radio to stay close to the Swedish driver, but then he was closer to losing P2 to Tim Tramnitz. The German then lost out on a podium place to Noel Leon, and ended up in a specular battle for fourth place with Santiago Ramos and Sebastian Montoya among others. Montoya however eventually got overtaken by Luke Browning with a gap of just 0.003 seconds.
On a wet track, the safety car was also instantly called out on Lap 1, as Max Esterson span off immediately exiting Raidillon, and after he hit the wall, he got stuck. In an eventful sprint race for Browning, the Briton managed to score little points, as he finished only in P6, and on Lap 6, and he also almost made contact with Sami Meguetounif into Turn 4. Arvin Lindblad missed out on points finishing in P12 - while his Prema teammates claimed a one-two finish -, as the 16-year-old had to start from the back of the grid, but he did show his skills of overtaking.
As a result, Gabriele Mini earned important points in the championship with finishing in P2 ahead of his two British rivals. The young Italian gained four points on Browning and nine on Lindblad. Mini now leads the standings by eight points ahead of Browning. Lindblad now has to overcome a 15-point gap, and he even got overtaken in the standings by Leonardo Fornaroli, who finished the Sprint Race in P8.
