Norris 'nervous' about Verstappen: 'Red Bull have the faster car'
After qualifying in P5 and behind Max Verstappen on a wet track at Spa-Francorchamps, Lando Norris will still start ahead of the Dutchman because of the grid penalty the three-time world champion have to deal with. The Briton is positive about the team's chances, but remained cautious.
At the drivers parade, Norris pointed out Red Bull could challenge the papaya McLaren cars in Belgium. "[I'm] Optimistic we can have a good result, but we know the Red Bulls are going to be very fast. So a little bit nervous about them," the one-time Grand Prix winner began during the Drivers Parade.
"It's tough, I mean at the minute the Red Bull is still a much quicker car, so it's going to be tough to keep them behind," Norris continued, with also naming how they could defeat their rivals on Sunday. "But if you keep them [the Red Bulls] behind for a good amount of laps then maybe they have less and less chance to get past. We have a lower wing of hope which allows us to overtake and try go forwards."
At the same time, to win the Belgian GP, Norris will also have to overtake himself, starting from P4 on the grid. "I still have three cars I need to try and overtake in the first place. I think we have chances, but we're gonna have to look ahead and we're gonna have to look behind."
Piastri names Verstappen as main rival
Lando Norris' teammate also the Dutchman as their biggest opponent, but was also wary of the other teams, he said. "Tyre deg on Friday was very high. We've also had a lot of rain, it's kind of cleaned the track off again. So I think the guys at the front will be still a problem. Hopefully, we've got a little bit more pace than them. But I think Max is definitely going to be probably the biggest threat," the Australian shared his thoughts.
