Verstappen on speed deficit: 'Need to limit the damage'
- Jeroen Immink
Max Verstappen looked quite relaxed after the race at Spa-Francorchamps in contrast to last week in Hungary. The Dutchman took fifth place at the Belgian Grand Prix and managed to outrun Lando Norris, who finished sixth. In doing so, Verstappen does hope that Red Bull can still improve his RB20 in terms of performance.
Verstappen reacts to his own performance
Starting from P11, Verstappen quickly made a way for himself towards the top five. Using an undercut, he managed to get in front of Norris, who in turn was faster. In the end, Verstappen did manage to keep Norris behind him and crossed the finish line in fifth place. Verstappen now enters the summer break with a 78-point lead over Norris.
"Of course, a lot of the other guys, they've done great races, but they're quite far behind in the championship. For me, it's with the car that, at the moment probably, is not the quickest in the race. It's about just limiting the damage and trying to be as close as I can be every single time, and that's what we what we have been doing lately. I would just hope that we can find a little bit more performance because it will make our lives a bit easier in the race," the Dutchman added.
