Carlos Sainz surprises and signs multi-year deal at Williams
The decision has been made. Carlos Sainz will drive for Williams in 2025. The Spaniard, who is in his final season at Ferrari, will make the switch to the British team next year. Sainz will become Alexander Albon's teammate there.
Carlos Sainz has announced that he will join Williams on a multi-year contract. Sainz's move had been heavily anticipated since he announced in February that he would leave Ferrari, with Lewis Hamilton replacing him at the team. Team boss James Vowles had made it clear that the Spaniard was his number one target, and on Monday the news was announced.
Sainz had been linked to the team, as well as others such as Sauber, who will become Audi in 2026, and Alpine. Nevertheless, he chose to sign with the British racing team. With this news, it means American driver Logan Sargeant will leave the team at the end of the season.
