Max Verstappen has failed to win the past four races in the Formula 1 season. Now arrived at the summer break, the 26-year-old driver still has a hefty lead in the standings, but the rest field seems to be close. David Coulthard already predicted that it would not be an easy task for Verstappen.

Coulthard saw it coming

"It's a very interesting season. Whether you are Max fan or Lewis fan, it's all unpredictable Grands Prix where we don't know who will take pole or who will win. I think this is what everyone dreams of, battle between multiple teams in Formula 1," Coulthard, who sees the tension in the championship increasing, told Motorsport.com.

Coulthard said at the start of the season that it was not going to be easy for Verstappen. "Of course then you still have to show it over several laps in a race run, but I had a feeling before we went to Bahrain that it would be much closer and that it would not be a walk in the park for Max," the former driver continued.

Verstappen's lead

Verstappen's final race weeks before the summer break have not always been easy. In his Red Bull, which by now does not seem to be the fastest car on the grid, he often saw Lando Norris finish ahead of him. However, the Dutchman still always has a substantial lead in the world championship. The Red Bull driver stands on 277 points, while Norris has scored 199. Among the constructors, Red Bull managed 408 points, here McLaren is slightly closer, as the team of Oscar Piastri and Norris is on 366 points.
