Aston Martin Mike Krack not worried about form

At the beginning of the 2023 season, Aston Martin surprised everyone. Fernando Alonso continued to produce podium finishes for the British team, and they were considered to be the second force behind Red Bull. Since then, the team have fallen back to P5 in the constructors' standings, and have a clear gap to the top four teams at the moment, Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes.

From encouraging results in 2023, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are yet to step on the podium in the current season. Yet, team principal Mike Krack is not worried for now. "Lawrence [Stroll] has been around this business for more than 20 years and he knows very well how other projects grew, and also how many projects failed," the team principal told Mirror Sport.

"I think that is a side that he does not want to be portrayed because it's maybe not so spectacular. But he's very knowledgeable, and he knows that you cannot change fortunes from one day to the next," the man from Luxembourg said about his team's owner's expectations.

What's Aston Martin's advantage?

The more time progressed, the less the team could also keep up with the current frontrunners. Recent upgrades did not improve the car the way Aston Martin hoped. The team are currently fifth in the standings with 73 points, and have a 193-point gap behind Mercedes. Alonso's best result was back at the Saudi Arabian GP, where he finished fifth.

Krack sees see a way back for the British team, an advantage their rivals do not have. "We are fortunate, we are not a corporate structure, we are not a corporate organisation, we have one man who can decide very fast. And if we can preserve that, it could be an asset."

"There is pressure, there is high ambition, there are very, very ambitious targets. But there is also knowledge and understanding of the business of Formula 1 and that makes it a package that is credible," the team principal concluded about the team's future in the competition.
