The drivers have been enjoying a well-earned break for some time now. In the first days of the so-called 'summer break', news broke that Sergio Perez was allowed to stay at Red Bull despite a string of shaky results. Someone who did fall victim to the cut-throat performance climate at Red Bull at an earlier stage: Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman had to leave the team after only 12 races in 2018. He spoke in Belgium about the pressure he experienced as a Red Bull driver.

Pierre Gasly's career at Red Bull did not last long: after 12 races he was replaced by Alexander Albon. On the Thursday prior to the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, the one-time race winner was asked about how he experienced the pressure during his time at Red Bull and whether Gasly was also given ultimatums. "I didn't get time to get told really," Gasly explained.

Gasly does not want to comment on Red Bull situation

He continued: "Honestly I want to stay out of this topic because of very different situations and I don't really want to expand on what he's facing at the moment."

Finally, Gasly reveals another salient detail about his time at AlphaTauri [currently VCARB]. In 2020, he managed to win the Italian GP with the Faenza-based team. As a gift, he received the car itself. "I got it. With the engine," he concluded.
