Sergio Perez is currently seventh in the drivers' championship and is often unable to compete with the men who do compete at the front. Following the recent support from Red Bull Racing, which saw Christian Horner confirm to Red Bull that Perez will remain in the cockpit, the Mexican still gets criticised. This includes criticism from Jo Ramirez. The former McLaren team coordinator thinks Perez should complain less about the car.

Ramirez worked on behalf of McLaren during the team's glory days, working with Ayrton Senna, and others. Speaking to Spain's Mundo Deportivo, he is critical of his compatriot in Formula 1, Sergio Perez. "It is very difficult for Checo. He is not a bad driver, but I always tell him to say everything is perfect. He always complains about the car."

Ramirez has advice for Perez

According to Ramirez, Perez simply has to learn to live with being inferior compared to Verstappen. "He should say, 'Look, Verstappen is a phenomenon and I can't come close to that.' I don't think you should be afraid to say that. There are very few people who come close to Verstappen, or maybe there are none at all. Perez can adjust his driving style, but he will never come close to Verstappen."
