Festivities for the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix are starting to be announced. Duncan Laurence, the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest winner, will sing the national anthem at the Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands. This was recently announced by the organisers of the race. Jan Lammers, former Dutch F1 driver, has since responded to the news, as well as Laurence himself.

Lammers and Laurence react to the announcement

"As always, we try to entertain and surprise our spectators during the Dutch Grand Prix. We always strive to showcase the best of our beautiful country and thus really stand out. So once again besides the exciting battle on the circuit, I am proud of our internationally acclaimed Dutch approach," Lammers revealed after the announcement.

"It is a huge honour to be able to sing the national anthem during the Dutch Grand Prix. It is a moment of national pride and I am immensely looking forward to sharing this with the world," Laurence said. The 2019 Eurovision winner thus follows in the footsteps of Davina Michelle and Floor Jansen who also got to sing the national anthem at the circuit. Last year, Andre Rieu performed by iconically playing the national anthem with an orchestra.
