Norris still critical of himself: "Made too many mistakes"
Lando Norris is in a title fight with Max Verstappen. The McLaren driver is just 78 points behind the Dutchman heading into this weekends Dutch Grand Prix. However, he has only won once compared to Verstappen's seven. The Brit has admitted he needs to improve heading into the second half of the 2024 season if he seriously wants to challenge Verstappen.
Norris still critical of himself
Speaking on Thursday's media day to GPblog and others, Norris admitted that whilst he is happy with how his season has gone so far, there are things he still needs to improve if he is to win a world title. "It's still the same really," Norris began; "Just things I've looked back on and learned from. But I'm fighting for a championship. So I'm not going to be happy if I'm not performing at the level that I need to do, to beat Max, and to beat Red Bull, and to beat the other drivers that I need to be beating.
"I'm still very happy with how the season's gone, but I’ve just made too many mistakes, and a few too many points given away, which is not the level I need to be at if I want to fight for a championship at the end of the day and to fight against a driver like Max. So plenty of things I've looked into and I've tried to work on and come back stronger."
Norris has never finished higher than seventh at Zandvoort, whilst Verstappen has won all three races held at the circuit since its return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2021.
