Doohan proud of contract at Alpine: 'A great day for my family'
- Ludo van Denderen
Jack Doohan is getting his chance in Formula 1. The son of legendary motorbike driver Mick will be Pierre Gasly 's teammate at Alpine next season. Doohan is the first Alpine Academy driver to progress to the position of permanent driver at the Formula 1 team. Currently, the Australian is working as a test and reserve driver.
Needless to say, Doohan is hugely looking forward to next season. "I am so happy to have been promoted to a full-time racing seat in 2025 with the Alpine F1 team," he states. "I am very grateful for the trust and belief of the team's senior management. There is still so much work to do to be prepared and ready and I will do my best in the coming period to gather as much information and knowledge as possible, to be fully equipped for the step up."
Doohan speaks of 'great moment'
Doohan is proud to be the first to progress from the Alpine Academy to the Formula One team. "It’s exceptionally satisfying to be the first graduate of the Alpine Academy to be in a race seat with the team and I’m extremely thankful to those who supported me along the way to make this a reality. It's an exciting moment, a proud day for my family, and I look forward to taking it all in and pushing hard behind the scenes.”
It is likely that Alpine will let Doohan get to work during one or more FP1 sessions this season so that he can gain additional experience.
