The seven-time World Champion will start from 12th on the grid as he failed to reach Q3. The Brit couldn't beat the times from Lance Stroll, Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly who all surprised and finished in the top ten. Meanwhile, Hamilton's teammate George Russell finished Q2 inside the top three. Russell was less than a tenth behind the quickest driver, Lando Norris. Hamilton had a snap of oversteer at turn one and he lost a lot of time in sector one overall.

The day could get worse for Hamilton. The driver has to go and see the stewards who want to investigate potential impeding against Sergio Perez in the first part of qualifying.
