F1 LIVE | The 2024 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort

The weekend at Zandvoort so far

Verstappen has lost his 100% record of topping the meaningful sessions at Zandvoort. Since the Dutch Grand Prix returned in 2021, the Dutchman has qualified on pole position and took the race victory every single year until 2024. He made ground in his final lap in qualifying, but Norris smashed it. The Brit beat Verstappen by more than three-tenths.

But the Red Bull Racing driver will still take some beating in Zandvoort to end his streak of wins. Norris, by his own admission, hasn't been starting Grands Prix as well as he needs to. That includes the Hungarian Grand Prix, which he feels he lost at the first corner and last time out in Belgium prior to the summer break. Norris has worked on his starts but will feel the pressure of the three-time World Champion breathing down his neck.

Norris has a very slim chance of beating Verstappen in the World Championship, but they really cannot afford to drop any more points. McLaren will also be hoping Oscar Piastri can defeat Verstappen to help them in their pursuit of the Constructors' World Championship. Though Sergio Perez is also in the mix for a good result, starting in P5.

George Russell will start from P4 but is left to attack the front runners alone. Lewis Hamilton failed to escape Q2 on Saturday and then took a grid penalty for impeding Sergio Perez.

What is the weather forecast for Dutch Grand Prix?

On Friday, it was rainy and windy throughout FP1, but the conditions bettered for FP2, as it was dry, although wind still affected some drivers. Qualifying was completed in dry and sunny conditions, but rain later troubled the F1 Academy race.

According to Weather.com, the Dutch Grand Prix is expected to be dry and sunny. In fact, it is probably the best day of weather across the entire weekend. Temperatures are expected to reach around 18c. However, drivers still have to battle the wind. The speed is predicted to be around 18mph.
