On Tuesday, Williams made a statement Logan Sargeant must have seen coming for a long time: His Formula 1 career has come to an end overnight, after Williams decided to replace the American with Franco Colapinto. While the team has already issued a press release with an explanation from team boss Vowles, an initial response from Sargeant is yet to happen. And that may take some time.

GPblog contacted the Sargeant camp on Tuesday evening, and they were clear: 'No comment' on any questions that would be raised. Admittedly, the dismissal was no longer unexpected for Sargeant and his team after yet another crash - this time at Zandvoort last weekend - but that probably does not reduce the mental blow to the driver. The second in a few days, as immediately after the accident in which Sargeant almost completely wrote off his Williams in the Netherlands, the American was already talking about "a mental blow" in the paddock.

Sargeant also silent on social media

Even on his social media channels - which Sargeant has an external party look after - nothing has been posted since Saturday. The last post is from last Saturday, even before the crash in FP3. Sargeant has not commented on social media either.

It is unknown whether Williams and Sargeant remain under some sort of contract until the end of this season. On paper, there is the possibility that he could still be called up again in case of an unforeseen problem for Alex Albon or Franco Colapinto.
