Norris also hunts down Verstappen in these standings
- Jeroen Immink
Lando Norris received the highest score in the F1 Power Rankings after the Dutch Grand Prix. With pole position, the fastest race lap and victory at Zandvoort, the McLaren driver was awarded a 9.6. Max Verstappen - who finished second - was left out of the top three.
Norris the best, Leclerc and Gasly complete top three
Before the race, Norris said he wanted to make fewer mistakes. After the race in Holland, the Briton can say he succeeded. At the start, he still saw Verstappen pass him, but a good overtake on the straight and good tyre management resulted in Norris winning the race with a margin of no less than 22 seconds over Verstappen. Norris not only scored the highest mark, but as a result he is now equal to Verstappen in the standings. Both drivers now have an 8.4 as an average mark.
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc rose above himself by very cleverly keeping Oscar Piastri behind him and eventually staying in third place. Afterwards, Ferrari did not understand where the speed came from, but for some reason Leclerc still managed to finish on the podium. The Monegasque received a 9.4 from the judges.
Pierre Gasly completed the top three. The Frenchman surprised in qualifying by making it through Q3 at all - compared to teammate Esteban Ocon who did not make it through Q1 - and finished in ninth place. This gave Gasly not only two points but also a nine in the ratings.
Verstappen has to settle for fourth place
A qualifying session that saw the maximum, an excellent start and a second place was not enough for Verstappen to make the top three. The Dutchman received an 8.8 from the judges for his performance at Zandvoort. Afterwards, Verstappen clearly stated that there was no more in it than a second place in his home race.
