Ricciardo laughs about Norris: 'Verstappen really won't like that'
- Corwin Kunst
As Lando Norris crossed the finish line in the Dutch GP, the 24-year-old Briton teased Max Verstappen. Namely, the McLaren driver shouted over the team radio "simply lovely", something the reigning world champion often says himself after a victory. Daniel Ricciardo laughingly said in Monza that Verstappen is unlikely to be swayed by that.
Norris' victory at Zandvoort was the second most dominant win of the season. In the 15 GPs run so far, the gap between the number one and two was bigger only once. It just goes to show that McLaren have their act together and that there is work to be done for Red Bull Racing.
Ricciardo thinks Norris' team radio was bold. "Lando was very confident to throw out a 'simply lovely' after the race. As much as they are friends, and I know how competitive Max, he would not have taken that very nicely or too well. We will see how he responds to it this weekend," smiled the Australian of Visa Cash App RB in conversation with F1TV.
Ricciardo curious about World Championship progression
The Australian finds it interesting to see how the duel for the world title between Verstappen and Norris will unfold."I've had the pleasure of being teammate with both of them. Both of them are obviously supremely talented."
Between 2016 and 2018, Ricciardo drove alongside Verstappen at Red Bull Racing. He then left for Renault (now Alpine) to be Norris' teammate at McLaren for two years from 2021. He left McLaren after two seasons due to disappointing results.
