What has happened already in 2024?
Max Verstappen has not dominated like everyone expected this season. He may have comfortably won the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix but the rest of the grid has closed in on the Red Bulls. Carlos Sainz won the Australian Grand Prix before Verstappen won in both Japan and China. Lando Norris took his maiden victory in Miami but was beaten by Verstappen to the chequered flag in Imola by just seven-tenths of a second. Charles Leclerc finally won his home race in Monaco, but Verstappen took victories six and seven of the season in Canada and Spain.
Since then, Verstappen and Red Bull have not won a Grand Prix. George Russell took victory in Austin after contact between Verstappen and Norris. Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton broke the record for the most wins at Silverstone, taking his ninth British Grand Prix victory. Despite team order drama with his teammate, Oscar Piastri took his first F1 victory in Hungry. Russell took the chequered flag in Belgium before the summer break but was later disqualified with the win going to his teammate Hamilton. F1 returned to Zandvoort last weekend, which saw Lando Norris win by over 20 seconds to Max Verstappen, despite having a poor start.
