Perez had to fight his Red Bull car in Monza: 'We are nowhere'

Red Bull Racing is on a mission at Monza. Starting from the Italian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez' s team is taking a different path in terms of development, which should make the RB20 more controllable again. Perez tells how Friday's Italian Formula 1 weekend went for him.
Perez on Red Bull's problems in FP2 Monza
Perez says Red Bull changed its gearbox, which cost the Mexican time in free practice. "We had some delays and the session was disrupted by the red flag. We still had some mechanical problems because everything had to be done quickly, so I think we just have to wait and see how the car behaves to see how we can come out on top," he told F1TV.
"The positive is probably the long runs. That looked a bit more promising. But we are nowhere yet with the tuning. It changes from corner to corner," Perez explained. Incidentally, he does expect the problem he had on Friday to be fairly easy to fix as it was a mechanical problem.
"But it won't be as easy as we had hoped," he adds. "The problems on the car are still there. We are fighting it. We are trying to make the best of it. And hopefully, we can make a good move on Saturday - especially over one lap - and fight in the race."
