Perez sees gloom for him and Verstappen after qualifying at Monza
- Jeroen Immink
Qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix ended in drama for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. For both Red Bull drivers, there was no more in it than P7 and P8 at the Monza circuit. Afterwards, Perez was unapologetic.
Perez: 'That's the biggest problem'
After qualifying, Perez was dumbfounded. "At the moment, the disconnection in the balance that we are facing is the main issue," Perez revealed. "We can get some competitive laps at times, but it's difficult to have progression," the Mexican added.
Red Bull has been struggling with the RB20 for a very long time. For now, the Austrian racing stable is first among constructors and Verstappen tops the drivers' standings. But for now, McLaren and Norris seem to be catching up fast in both championships. Perez is therefore looking bleak for the race in Italy, but ultimately hopes to make the best of it. "Hopefully, the car can be more connected tomorrow and have stronger race pace tomorrow," the Mexican concluded.
