Marko acknowledges 'huge, fundamental problem' Red Bull are facing

Red Bull Racing's performance is slowly worsening. In Monza at the Italian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez struggled with the RB20, as Max Verstappen saw his lead in the world championship dwindle yet again. Team advisor Helmut Marko also confirmed that the problems faced by Red Bull are difficult to solve.
For months, Verstappen had been warning that the development of the RB20 was going in the wrong direction. The three-time world champion also stated more than once that the senior men and women of the team did not seem to see the seriousness of the situation. After the Italian Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing's advisor Helmut Marko also indicated that there was quite a lot going on behind the scenes.
Marko: 'Everyone is working hard together'
"We realised during the Italian GP weekend that there is a huge, fundamental problem with the RB20 car," Marko states to Speedweek, repeating what Verstappen has been reporting. "The positive thing is that everyone is working together and working very hard to find a solution. There will be tyre tests in Monza after the Italian GP, which might get us back on track," he revealed.
Marko acknowledges that what once was the best car on the grid has suddenly become unpredictable and barely controllable. The Austrian knows the problem must be fixed soon. "We have created a car that reacts extremely sensitively to the slightest changes - whether it is the outside temperature or a different tyre compound or less fuel on board. And then the good balance is gone again. We also believe that the correlation between the wind tunnel and the track is part of the problem." Marko concluded.
