Perez struggles with similar problems that 'Verstappen suddenly has'
- Ludo van Denderen
Sergio Perez has been telling it all season: the Mexican finds it difficult to handle Red Bull Racing's RB20, and as a result, he cannot perform as he hopes. Consequently, the vice-world champion has not yet won this season, unlike Max Verstappen. However, his Dutch teammate has been waiting for another win since the Spanish Grand Prix. According to Sergio Perez, Verstappen is currently running into the same problems he has been struggling with throughout 2024.
“I really feel like I’m in the same boat as I’ve been in for the last eight, 10 races but now all of a sudden Max has come into similar issues so yeah, a little bit of a confusion there but it is clear in the data where the problem is,” Perez stated to F1TV. What the problem is? That lies in the balance of the car, those involved within Red Bull said one by one at Monza last weekend.
Perez happy that the RB20 problem has been found
Identifying the flaw is the first step, now it is up to the Austrian racing stable to find a solution for it. Helmut Marko meanwhile revealed that in Austin at the United States Grand Prix, the results of the hard work should become visible. So for the upcoming races in Baku and Singapore, Verstappen and Perez will have to hang on.
"I think the good thing is that we have no questions," Perez told GPblog and others. "Now we know exactly where the issue is. We can clearly see it in the data. It's just how to fix it, how to attack it. I think the next few weeks are going to be very important. I'm already tomorrow (Monday, ed) in the factory with the team, with the engineers, because I think next week is going to be a very important one."
