Following the Italian Grand Prix, it became official: Kevin Magnussen will have to serve a one-race ban at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. This is because the Haas F1 driver has accumulated 12 penalty points on his F1 super licenses within a 12-month period. Therefore, GPblog have since learned that Oliver Bearman will replace Magnussen in Baku. GPblog lists you the incidents that earned the Dane the race ban.

2024 Saudi Arabian GP - Causing a collision - 3 points

On Lap 10 of the race, Magnussen and Alex Albon were battling for position, sitting in P13 and P14 respectively. Entering Turn 22, the Dane closed the door on the Williams, and Albon's front wing also flew off. Magnussen was given a ten-second time penalty for his action.

2024 Chinese GP - Causing a collision - 2 points

Three Grands Prix later, Magnussen ended Yuki Tsunoda's Chinese GP. On Lap 27, fighting for P13, Magnussen tapped the Japanese driver's right-rear tyre, and spun him out exiting Turn 6. Tsunoda's tyre was also punctured, so he had to retire. Once again, the Haas driver got a ten-second time penalty for his mistake.

2024 Miami GP [Sprint] - Multiple track limit penalties - 3 points

In Miami Gardens, Nico Hülkenberg did well and managed to finish within the Top 10 during Sprint Qualifying. Following an incident on Lap 1, Magnussen got up to P8, just behind Hülkenberg, and decided not to let anyone pass. By the time Lewis Hamilton and Yuki Tsunoda could overtake the Dane, who went off the track multiple times to remain ahead of his rivals, they could no longer catch the German. Hülkenberg finished in seventh position and earned two points.

2024 Miami GP - Causing a collision - 2 points

Following the Sprint Race, after which the fans either praised or completely hated Magnussen, on Lap 28, he crashed into Logan Sargeant in Sector 1. The American had to retire from his home Grand Prix, but Magnussen could continue. This incident caused a Safety Car, and as a result, Lando Norris could get a free pit stop, helping him to win his first race.

The final nail in the coffin for Magnussen came in Monza. On Lap 18, the Dane tried to make a move on Pierre Gasly, but he locked up, and made contact. Without any damage, both could continue the race. He received a ten-second time penalty, and the final two points. Magnussen also earned a point that weekend, finishing in P10. Following the incident in the paddock, the Frenchman did defend Magnussen, saying he would go to the stewards himself if that could help his rival out.
