Thanks to Charles Leclerc's victory at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, not only McLaren, but also Ferrari have caught up considerably with Red Bull in the constructors' standings. The Italian team may dream of a title again after years of drought in Maranello. Carlos Sainz therefore hopes to bid farewell to Ferrari with the constructors' title.

The gap between number one Red Bull and number three Ferrari is down to 39 points. At Monza, the team of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez clearly came up short against Ferrari, McLaren and also Mercedes. With the upcoming races in Azerbaijan and Sinagpore, the competition smells blood.

Sainz: 'We can only test that on normal tracks'

Leclerc and Sainz's SF-24 will be fitted with a new floor, hoping to be faster than Red Bull, McLaren or Mercedes. Whether that floor will work remains to be seen by Sainz in Baku. "I'm honestly not sure. We need more samples on this new floor and we need to go to more normal tracks. I guess the next normal one is Austin because the ones coming up are very particular. Austin is back to a more normal racetrack and that will tell us how good we are with this new floor," Sainz said.

"Baku, there's not one single high speed corner or medium speed corner. It's all low speed. A bit, it’s very particular like Singapore," Sainz added. Last year, at the aforementioned circuit, the Spaniard achieved the only non-Red Bull win of the season.

Sainz on Ferrari's title chances in battle with Red Bull and McLaren

Sainz thinks the title chances for the constructors, are very close. "Yes, it is decisive. Also for the constructors because today (in Monza) I guess we've been the team scoring the most points. And that means that it is a big chance not only in general to get more wins through the year, but to fight for the constructors, which I think is going to be, if we manage to be quick also in other tracks, tied with McLaren and Red Bull," the Spaniard concluded.
