Sergio Perez wants to end career at Red Bull as he names his next goals

Finishing second in last season's drivers' championship, Sergio Perez had surely expected the current season to go differently. The Red Bull Racing Mexican finds himself in seventh place in the title race, with barely half the number of points than his teammate Max Verstappen. With an RB20 that is barely manageable, improvement in the short term seems unrealistic. Yet Perez is still ambitious. Although Red Bull is in a difficult phase, the Mexican does not want to quit F1 until he has won "a few more championships".
Perez is now 34 years old, being active in F1 since the 2011 season. Plenty of drivers who would call it a day after such a long period, especially if they have a family. Perez is not like that. Yes, it is tough, but worth it, is Perez's opinion on the matter. "I’ve been fighting all my life to be here. I know that I’m towards the end of my career, because I don’t want to do it for too long. There will be a time, I don’t know when, where I will just have to say, look, ‘I cannot live anymore with leaving my family all the time behind'," the Mexican told The Times.
Perez wants more titles with Red Bull
Perez, on paper, still has years to go in the competition. For the '25 season, he has a contract with Red Bull Racing, and the team also have an option for 2026. The Mexican himself cannot imagine himself driving elsewhere. "I want to end my career here. I don’t know when, but it’s a team that has given me everything, and I want to give everything back to them as well. Before that, hopefully we are able to win a few more championships."
The Red Bull Racing driver is aware that a big challenge awaits his team in the constructors' championship, as he admits McLaren is the big favourite. "I think it is their championship to lose at the moment. I would say that if they don’t win the constructors, we have taken it away from them. But let’s see how the next few races evolve," Perez concluded.
