The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place at 12:00 BST on Sunday, September 15th, 2024. Baku's race has changed its calendar position and now takes place after the summer break. In previous years, the event has taken place in June or April.

As Formula 1 looks to improve the calendar to reduce emissions and travel distances, the schedule changed slightly in 2024. One of the big movers was the Japanese Grand Prix. The other is this weekend's event in Baku. It will be the 17th round in the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship. It will use the traditional format of three practice sessions, qualifying, and the Grand Prix on Sunday.

As it stands, Max Verstappen leads the Formula 1 World Championship, but the pressure is starting to increase. Lando Norris is hunting him down and has a 62-point gap to bridge with just eight races remaining in the season. McLaren are also closing the gap in the Constructors' Championship and are arguably favourites to take the lead this weekend due to the eight-point difference.

Ferrari and Charles Leclerc won the last race in Italy and can't be ruled out this weekend. They were strong in the streets of Monaco earlier in the season, but the streets of Baku present a different challenge. Mercedes are expected to be more competitive this weekend. McLaren have a car that is quick on various track types whilst Red Bull will be hoping they can make improvements to be competitive.
