Will Red Bull come up with updates soon? Verstappen responds
- Nicole Mulder
Formula 1 is heading for a doubleheader: a week after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the F1 circus travels from Baku to Singapore. That means little time for Red Bull Racing to find a solution to the RB20's recent performance problems. Max Verstappen sees that his team now feels the urgency, but he would not yet say when more updates are expected.
Verstappen: 'Difficult to find a solution'
Ahead of the Italian GP in Monza, it emerged that Verstappen indicated early in the year that his car did not feel right. The Dutchman replied negatively when asked if at any point he felt he was not being listened to. "There is definitely listening, but it is difficult to find a solution," he said in a conversation with a group of Dutch media, including GPblog.
During the summer break, Red Bull evaluated which way to go, but at Zandvoort and Monza the balance problems were still present. "We are checking things, but that will take longer. It's not like after the summer break I thought, 'Now all of a sudden things are going well'. We just need time to test and evaluate. It's just unfortunately taking a bit longer than we want," Verstappen added.
The three-time world champion hopes new parts will soon be introduced that will improve the balance of the car. Verstappen held back when asked about upgrades. "I'm not going to say too much about that right now," he replied.
Verstappen: 'Won a few races we shouldn't have won'
The problems are by no means new for Verstappen, who already felt something was wrong at the time he was still winning races. "Back then, we already won a few races we really shouldn't have won," he admits. "As long as the urgency is there now, that's very important. And that's there now I think."
