Teams and drivers may be preparing for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix this weekend, but some big transfer news has become official in the world of F1. Adrian Newey, after leaving Red Bull, has now officially signed with Aston Martin, which he will be a part of in 2025. In other news today, there have been developments in the McLaren and Alex Palou lawsuit. And Sky Sports commentator David Croft celebrated his wedding from last weekend.

Aston Martin officially announced Newey signing

After months of speculation as to where Adrian Newey would sign after leaving Red Bull Racing, and after weeks of speculation in the paddock as to when Aston Martin would announce the signing of the master designer after rumours started to circulate, it all became official today. The British designer signed for the Silverstone-based team, started on March 1 2025, looking to play a vital role in the development of the 2026 car when the regulations change.

Newey said he was "thrilled to be joining Aston Martin," saying he has been "inspired and impressed" by the team, and by owner Lawrence Stroll. Stroll had his say on being able to get Newey's signature down on an Aston Martin contract, saying he "believed it was meant to be" that Newey would come and join his team

Alonso and Stroll Jr. also react

Newey joins Aston Martin with the team having a completely new wind tunnel, as well as having Honda supply the team with engines when the regulations change in 2026, a manufacturer that the master designer has already worked with for many years with Red Bull.

Fernando Alonso, after signing a contract extension with the team, conveyed huge excitement that he would have Newey by his side, saying it is "an incredible day for the team." He also touted the team as a "team for the future". Lance Stroll had his say too, and he said it was " a huge day" for Aston Martin. The Canadian driver continued on by saying it was "the most exciting day in the team's history."
