Baku's most successful F1 driver beams with confidence ahead of 2024 race

Red Bull Racing endured a difficult weekend in Italy, with Max Verstappen only managing a sixth-place finish in the race. Perez finished two places behind and as a result - combined with McLaren's double podium - they saw their lead World Championship lead cut to just eight points. Red Bull have led the Constructors' Championship since the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix. That streak could come to an end this weekend.

In order to ensure that the streak doesn't end, Perez reports some reflection has happened. "We’ve had a good period of reflection and work since the last race in Monza. Both Max and I have been in the factory working with the Team to ensure we are finding the fix for the problems we have been suffering from when it comes to car performance," the Mexican said.

"To get back to where we should be on the grid it will take a Team effort and you can see that everyday in Milton Keynes and at track, this has pulled us all together and we are confident we are going to be heading in the right direction."

Perez is the most successful driver in Baku. He is the only Formula 1 driver to have multiple wins at the venue and has scored more points than anyone. Even if he falls to add to his Baku tally of 115 points this weekend, nobody can mathematically overtake him this season. Perez showed signs of confidence. 

"Baku is always a fun track, I personally love racing there, street circuits suit my style and I love testing myself on them. It will be interesting for us to see how the RB20 reacts there, practice is going to be especially important to us and then it’ll be about putting everything we have learnt about the car over the past few weeks to work," Perez concluded.
