Marko sees Verstappen going to Aston Martin: 'Everything actually fits'

With the Adrian Newey announcement, Aston Martin became a possible location for Max Verstappen should he want to leave Red Bull Racing. He has an ongoing contract, but the current situation at Red Bull would suggest contact clauses might be triggered. External advisor Helmut Marko addressed these suggestions about Verstappen's possible future with the team.
"Max drives where he can win. Aston Martin has the most modern factory, the wind tunnel will be commissioned next year and then there will be Honda engines. Everything fits basically. And if you look at history, it is clear that everywhere Newey has been, there has been an upward trend. I don't see why that would be different at Aston Martin," Marko told Kleine Zeitung.
Marko on the championship
"He knows he can also win titles with us if we can get this world championship over the line now. That is also an absolute must," the Graz-based Austrian continued. Verstappen already made a statement about the world titles, saying it was unrealistic for Red Bull to win one of the two titles this season.
On the Tuesday afternoon before the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku, Newey was presented at Aston Martin. Top designer Newey helped Verstappen create championship-winning cars in Formula 1, and so was a valued force at the Austrian factory. Will Verstappen follow Newey's lead? Mike Krack expressed that the door is open.
