Aston Martin seat interesting for Verstappen? 'Time will tell'
With the signing of Adrian Newey, Aston Martin have taken another step to get to the front of the Formula 1 grid. The force behind this project is Lawrence Stroll, the (co-)owner of the team. Lance Stroll, the son of Lawrence, is proud of what has been achieved by his father so far, and they are not done yet.
Lance Stroll is not a man of many words. His conversations with the media are often brief, but in Baku after Adrian Newey's announcement, the Canadian did spend time talking to the press. The Canadian was in a particularly good mood, knowing that Newey's signing can bring to possible fight for new goals in the future. With the master designer, Aston Martin - and therefore Lance Stroll - could have a shot at fighting for world championships.
Stroll expects bright future Aston Martin
"Extremely proud," Lance Stroll told GPblog and others, when asked about his father's achievements. "It's been an incredible journey the last few years, putting this project together and. I don't think the future could be any more exciting now that everything's really starting to get in place and we can start firing away."
Stroll's also talked about their days when the team were called Racing Point, created from the almost bankrupt remainings of Force India. "And then beginning of last year, again, we came out with a really quick car, with some new ideas and a new approach to the philosophy of designing the car. And then again, we've kind of learned a few lessons since then, taken a few decisions that I think took us off the right path. But I think that all of that has helped us grow as a team."
"I think now with the new factory being there, with Adrian coming on board, other people coming on board, Andy, Enrico and along with the people that have been there, I think we're just growing more and more strength to this team and that's going to just help us going forward for the future to be, to really reach the potential and sustain that potential long term going forward, that’s the goal," added the Canadian.
Aston Martin soon to have Max Verstappen?
Meanwhile, Aston Martin are now becoming an interesting destination for all drivers on the grid, including Max Verstappen. Lance Stroll is aware that the Dutchman could also be interested in a seat with the British team. "Time will tell. Yes. But it is very exciting for us as a team where we are. But we have to look forward to who's come on board and the future in general."
