Enzo Fittipaldi was the quickest in the free practice session of the Formula 2 weekend in Azerbaijan, in a session with two red flags. At the bottom of the timesheet was however Niels Koolen. The Dutchman's debut is not smooth for now, as he was ten seconds slower than the Brazilian in P1. Kush Maini finished the session in P2 ahead of Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

Two red flags in Formula 2

To indicate how difficult the session went for Koolen: The driver finishing in P21, Rafael Villagomez, was over five seconds quicker than the Dutchman in this free practice session. Koolen has been competing for the AIX Racing team for two races for now, and hopes to extend his stay in F2, but the team is not eager to do just that for now.

There were two red flags this session. First it was Pepe Marti who had his car stalled after a spin, later it was another Red Bull Junior who put his MP Motorsport car into the wall.

Kush Maini finished the session in P2, one tenth ahead of Andrea Kimi Antonelli, while the Italian's regular teammate, Oliver Bearman replaces Kevin Magnussen this weekend. Making their debut in F2, Gabriele Mini finished in P6, while Luke Browning finished in P14.
