Are Red Bull feeling the heat from McLaren? Horner describes the atmosphere
It is well known that McLaren has performed better than Red Bull in recent races, but the Austrian team are still ahead in both standings. Despite Lando Norris creeping closer and closer to Verstappen, the atmosphere within Red Bull remains good. Christian Horner talks about the team's state of mind after FP1 in Baku.
The first free practice session was immediately positive for Verstappen. At the end of the session, he topped the timesheet and finished three-tenths faster than Lewis Hamilton. After the free practice session, Horner appeared at the team bosses' press conference and addressed the atmosphere within the team. Hard work continues to be done even in Milton Keynes.
Horner on the atmosphere within team Red Bull
"I think it's pretty positive," Horner said after the first free practice session in Azerbaijan. "Monza was a tough weekend for us. But I think out of every negative comes a positive. And I think the negativity of that weekend exposed some key areas of the car that we've been grappling with for some time. And I think it's given a clear direction," said the British team boss.
"The whole team, from the drivers putting in large amounts of time on the simulator, all the way through every single department are really determined and pushing as hard as possible. Some long hours going in in Milton Keynes at the moment from all the men and women back there. And hopefully, we can turn things around," Horner concluded.
