14 September at 10:50

After the Chinese driver finished in P18 this morning in Baku, the FIA have announced that Guanyu Zhou will receive grid penalty. No matter where the Stake F1 driver will finish in qualifying, he will have to start from the back.

Following FP3, it was announced that Guanyu Zhou has received a grid penalty for changing two power unit components in Azerbaijan. As a third energy store (ES) and third control electronics (CE) have been used, the team breached Article 28.2 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations.

The decision of the stewards was the following: 'Required to start the Race from the back of the starting grid,' the report writes. This is because Article 42.3 d) of the rule book reads that if you a drivers has more than 15 places worth of penalties, they have to start from the back no matter what.

Both changes the team have made to the Chinese driver's car are worth 10 positions on the grid.
