FIA passes verdict on Perez and Sainz incident: Here's the result!
Stewards have put Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez on the spot after the third free practice session in Azerbaijan. The Red Bull driver was in the Ferrari driver's way during the final minutes of the third practice session in Baku. The FIA passed judgement, releasing the document on the follow-up to this incident.
During the second free practice in Baku, the two drivers also had a moment together in the closing minutes. Then the FIA decided to issue a warning to Sainz, who was in Perez's way. During FP3, it was the other way around. Perez sat Sainz during the final practice session of the weekend. "F*ck, this was a big moment. What he just did was crazy," Sainz shouted over the radio.
The stewards watched the moment and passed their verdict on the incident. On Friday, the FIA gave a warning to Sainz for obstructing Perez during FP2. On Saturday afternoon, it was no different. In fact, Perez received a warning for obstructing Sainz. So no penalty for Perez.
Red Bull team boss Christian Horner indicated quite quickly after the session that it was a communication error by the team, which had not informed Perez early enough about the situation that Sainz was nearby.
