Max Verstappen starts f1 race in baku 2024 with question marks

Verstappen has many question marks about the race in Baku: ''We'll see''

15 September at 10:29

Max Verstappen will start the Azerbaijan Grand Prix from sixth place. Despite Red Bull Racing's new updates, the Dutchman couldn't beat Ferrari and Oscar Piastri in qualifying. Before the race, Verstappen discussed what he expects from the race.

The Dutchman will start behind his teammate Sergio Perez in Baku, but the Mexican is somewhat of a master in the streets. Perez is the most successful driver in Baku's F1 history, being the only driver to win twice at the venue. He also has the most points scored, and that record will remain even if he fails to score this time around.

Prior to the race, the Dutchman didn't want to make too many statements about the car. "We'll just see. We'll try to do the best we can today. Hopefully, the car is working quite well. Around Baku, a lot of things are going on in the race anyway. So, we'll see," Verstappen said.

The chance of a safety car or a red flag is quite high in Baku. So anything is still possible from sixth place, Verstappen said. "Of course, we're starting a bit further back than I would have liked, but it's still a very, very long race."

Is Verstappen expecting a podium finish in Azerbaijan?

The chance of a podium finish for the Dutchman depends on several factors. "I think it all depends on how you are on tyres especially on the second set. So, again, this is something that we'll just find out troughout the race," Verstappen said.
