Spaniard Alex Palou has won his third IndyCar champiosnhip following a thrilling final race in Nashville. Finishing in 11th position was enough for the Chip Ganassi Racing driver. In terms of the race itself, Colton Herta saw the chequered flag first, ahead of Pato O'Ward and this year's Indy 500 winner, Josef Newgarden.

Palou once again the champion, Herta wins in Nashville

Ahead of the race in Nashville, Power was sitting 33 points behind Palou. Therefore, he knew a victory was likely needed to take the championship. Power started from P4 on the grid, while Palou was 20 positions behind. Unfortunately for him, the Australian driver's seatbelt came off, ending his title aspirations, while the Chip Ganassi rival could climb up the grid.

The race saw many yellow flags, once because of Felix Rosenqvist. Herta could take the lead in the final stages of the race, thanks to a daring overtake on Pato O'Ward. The Mexican will compete in the Mexican GP FP1 session in Formula 1 for McLaren. O'Ward finished in P2 ahead of Indy 500 winner Josef Newgarden.

Palou crossed the finish line in P11, which was enough for him to win the IndyCar title for the third time in his career. With his victory, Herta finished second in the standings ahead of Scott McLaughlin, while Power was well back to P4.
