Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says his team will be conducting a 'post-mortem' on Red Bull's cars after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Sergio Perez was performing well until his dramatic incident at the end of the race. The Mexican was outpacing his teammate Max Verstappen, and the Milton Keynes-based squad will investigate the gap in performance after the Grand Prix, with Horner telling GPblog and others that it could be primarily down to set up.

Verstappen finished sixth in Monza, stressing that Red Bull needed to make some serious changes to their car if the team wanted to have a chance of maintaining both titles. The reigning champions have since been working hard on the car, and the three-time world champion was slightly happier with his RB20 during the Azerbaijan GP weekend.

Despite this, the Dutchman still finished in fifth place and attributes this result mainly to an incorrect car setup. In contrast to Verstappen, teammate Perez performed well around the streets of Baku before his collision with Carlos Sainz's Ferrari in the closing stages of the race.

Verstappen's Red Bull to be investigated

"I think there'll be a big post-mortem to see what the variances between the two cars are, which are obviously reasonably subtle. But he was not as comfortable as Checo was today, so obviously we need to get into that to understand why," Horner said in conversation with media present in Baku, including GPblog.

"I think Max, obviously, we need to look at the variances and set up. He wasn't as happy with his car as Checo was. But I think if you take Checo as the baseline here, I think that we have made improvements. We just need to understand the differences and, again, improve further." Horner concluded.
