Initially, Perez Sr's PR department reported that he was found unconscious in his home, to which the emergency services were immediately called. Antonio Perez was rushed to a hospital in Mexico City, where he remains under medical observation and is in stable condition.

Perez Sr's agent, Esmeralda Mendoza, has since shared an update via her Instagram page. She says that his condition is stable but stresses that he needs to remain in intensive care for now. "We thank everyone for your love, support and solidarity in these moments," she wrote alongside the post.

Sergio Perez's father reportedly watched his son's Formula One race at home in Mexico. The Red Bull Racing driver was having a strong weekend, competing with both Ferrari drivers for the podium, until he collided with Sainz. Both drivers ended up in the wall and out of the race. Luckily, both were able to get out from their cars uninjured following the incident.
