With Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula 3 are also 'booming'. Yet Jenzer Motorsport have decided to quit from the F3 competition. Bruno Michel, the CEO of the feeder series, informed international media (including GPblog) in an online press interview on Tuesday that new candidates have since come forward to fill Jenzer Motorsport's vacant spot.

The Austrian team had a disappointing campaign in F3 last season, with only Matías Zagazeta finishing on the podium once in the sprint race at Silverstone. The driver from Peru crossed the finish line in P3 at the British circuit. Charlie Wurz - the son of former F1 driver Alexander - also drove for Jenzer. Now these driver will have to look for a different seat for the next season, perhaps they will find a place at Jenzer's successor on the F3 grid.

Many teams want to be active in F3

According to Bruno Michel, the F3 grid will be made up of ten teams and thirty cars next season: "Not more than that. We opened a selection process and there were quite a lot of teams that wanted to join for only one position. But out of all the applications we had, of course we had applications from F2 teams that were not in F3, and there are two of them. And yes, one of these two teams would be quite likely to enter into competition for the next cycle, but the process is not finished yet," said the Frenchman.

At the moment, there are two F2 teams that do not have an F3 team yet, DAMS and Invicta Racing, and one of these teams have the best chance of entering the F3 grid net season. Invicta Racing currently lead the team championship in F2, with Gabriel Bortoleto and Kush Maini behind their wheels. The Brazilian is already rumoured to may join Sauber next season in F1, and the team have also already confirmed the signing of 2024 Formula 3 champion Leonardo Fornaroli for 2025 in F2.
