McLaren appeal to the FIA: 'Look at other teams' wings too'
- Ludo van Denderen
Following the FIA, McLaren confirms that the team has made two modifications to the rear wings. This is happening in two places, it is now understood. McLaren inform that they made these changes on their own initiative.
In a response sent to the media, a spokesperson for the team said, "Whilst our Baku rear wing complies with the regulations and passes all FIA deflection tests, McLaren have proactively offered to make some minor adjustments to the wing following our conversations with the FIA. We would also expect the FIA to have similar conversations with other teams in relation to the compliance of their rear wings."
Over the last few days, there has been some discussion about the legality of McLaren's rear wing. When asked on Thursday in Singapore, both the team's drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, revealed that everything was according to the rules and that they were extremely happy with their team's wing. In particular, Red Bull Racing and Ferrari openly questioned the legality of the McLarens' rear wings.
The rear wings were already modified during the Singapore Grand Prix. The FIA will undoubtedly monitor further developments.
