Sergio Perez on Red Bull's disappointing performance in Singapore

Sergio Perez is not impressed by Red Bull's performance during practice ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix. In the second free practice session, Perez managed to breach the top ten but could only manage 14th place in FP1. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen only maanged to P15 in FP2. The Mexican sees Red Bull are struggling around the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

Perez performed well in Baku last week, beating his teammate in qualifying for the first time in over 12 months. The 31-year-old was fighting for the podium places, and perhaps even the race win in Baku until a late crash with Carlos Sainz. But given Perez's reaction, he's not expecting a weekend as good as Baku.

Perez disappointed in Singapore

Perez said: "I think we improved a little bit from FP1, but we are still lacking quite a lot of balance. It is quite difficult out there to put a lap together and it’s not looking great at the moment."

Perez says this has caught Red Bull off guard. "Our performance has taken us a little by surprise so we have some work to do overnight because we are quite far off. We are nearly a second off the pace, so we need quite a big change to come through. We will see what we are able to do, it could be quite a tough weekend but we will work hard to ensure we can compete."
