McLaren and Ferrari find practice pace as Mercedes and Red Bull regress
Friday at the Marina Bay Circuit gave some big indications as to who has the chance to find pole position for tomorrow's race, and it was McLaren and Ferrari who led the way at the front of the grid. It was Charles Leclerc who was able to take P1 in FP1, followed by Lando Norris in FP2, as those two show the early signs of taking pole on the streets of Singapore. Norris will be looking to close the gap once again to Verstappen in the hunt for the drivers' championship, while McLaren will look to extend their lead in the constructors' championship. And for Ferrari, a great weekend for them could see them jump above Red Bull.
Behind the two leading teams, it is wide open, with Mercedes and Red Bull both struggling to find balance and pace, as Williams and VCARB look extremely racy behind them. Both teams will hope that they won't see any shock results in qualifying today. However, a P11 and P15 for Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, respectively, show the issues both teams have. Red Bull will hope that they don't have a repeat of 2023, as their chances of retaining the constructors' championship could slip through their fingers.
