Lando Norris starts Sunday afternoon's race from pole position. During qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix, the McLaren driver was faster than Max Verstappen, so the Bristol-based driver will start from P1. Despite the Dutchman improving during this weekend, Norris is already confident of a good result for himself.

Norris on race confidence

Norris was asked about how much confidence he has for the race. "Quite a bit. We've been very good all weekend. People have caught up, clearly, like we've gone into quali and clearly Max improved, and he improved a lot from yesterday into today. Mercedes as well, they were very quick in Q2. So they were there. They were there on my tail, a bit close for my liking," Norris said.

During qualifying, it was soon apparent that Norris was the fastest. Verstappen also looked fast. But what about the car for the race? "But confident that the car's good in both quali and race. We showed that already on Friday. So, I’m confident if I can just get ahead, then I get my head down and can go away," he added.

Norris and Verstappen in the world championship

Norris will get another chance to close the gap on Verstappen in the Formula 1 World Championship. The difference between the two is now just 59 points. So, with only seven races left on the calendar, Norris still needs to make up around nine points per weekend on average.
