Max Verstappen wasn't heard swearing over the team radio during the Singapore Grand Prix despite seeing his rival Lando Norris storm off into the distance. The Dutchman claims it wasn't deliberately avoided in wake of his penalty imposed by the FIA stewards for swearing in the FIA press conference.

It's rare for a moment in the Thursday press conference to dominate proceedings during the F1 weekend. Verstappen described his car as 'f***ed' and was penalised as a result of the language used. Verstappen protested against the community service penalty he received by hardly speaking in the following FIA press conference. 

Did Verstappen avoid swearing in the Singapore Grand Prix?

Ahead of the weekend, FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem wished the swearing over the broadcast team radio would be reduced. Verstappen was quiet on the radio in Singapore, but he said this wasn't down to any of the sanctions or messages prior to the race.

"No, there was just not much going on for me to be honest. Only with the pit stop, that's it. But after that I just did my own race. There was just not a lot of people around me," Verstappen said.
