lando norris and max verstappen hit back at questions
Today at 18:30

Lando Norris branded questions from Sunday's press conference at the Singapore Grand Prix as "silly" after a dominant victory, with the 24-year-old beating Max Verstappen by just under 21 seconds to close the gap between the two of them to 52 points in the drivers' championship with six races to go.

It was Norris' third win of the 2024 season, but it still requires the Brit to overhaul a big points difference between himself and the Dutchman with only six races, which include three sprint weekends. However, his faultless performance around the Marina Bay Street Circuit highlighted that he and McLaren were clearly the people to beat and that the chance of a maiden world title is still a real possibility.

Norris responded to "obvious" questions

After his victory in Singapore, Norris was asked what his strategy was regarding the championship and the possibility of taking the title with just six races to go, a question that the Brit found quite ridiculous: "Silly question really, isn't it? Just try and do the same again. But Max is pushing hard, and I'm sure Red Bull are pushing hard. I mean, it's obvious, it's doing my best every weekend. I'm trying to get the most points I can every weekend, including fastest laps and things like that. But if Max keeps finishing second and Red Bull keeps doing like they did this weekend, then nothing more I can do. Just focus on myself and focus on us as a team. That's it."

However, a similar question was then asked about if the title race would go down to the final race, and once again, Norris answered irritably: "We have no idea, mate. I don't know. I can't tell the future. I'm working as hard as I can, like I just said. I'm sure Red Bull and Max are as well. I'm sure there's going to be plenty of competition until the end of the year. As a team, the only thing we can do is to try and score the most points possible, that includes trying to win. Again, a silly question."

Verstappen was also asked that second question, and the Dutchman was still not very talkative in this FIA press conference. After swearing in Thursday's conference, he then only answered questions extremely bluntly in protest of the community service penalty he received for Thursday's incident. "Yeah, time will tell, right?" Verstappen quickly answered.
