Lando Norris has said there is 'nothing wrong' with Daniel Ricciardo's fastest lap at the Singapore Grand Prix. The McLaren driver looked to have the extra point for the fastest lap of the race, but Visa Cash App RB driver Ricciardo came into the pits and changed to the soft tyres, setting the quickest time and taking what could be a vital championship point away from Norris and McLaren.

In what might be the Australian's last race in Formula 1, he was able to have some fun and earn the fastest lap around the Marina Bay Street Circuit. However, many believe that Red Bull wanted VCARB, their junior team, and Ricciardo to come in and change onto the red-walled soft tyres to try and take a point away from Norris and McLaren as they both challenge Max Verstappen and Red Bull in the drivers' and constructors' championships, respectively.

Ricciardo took the fastest lap off Norris by the end of the race, and there was some talk as to whether it was fair for Red Bull to use their sister team to help their own cause.

Norris sees no issue with Red Bull using VCARB

Norris was asked Ricciardo's fastest lap in the FIA press conference after the Grand Prix, but the 24-year-old quickly dismissed any issues surrounding it: "That's how it's been in Formula 1 for, I don't know, probably since before I was born, so there's nothing to complain about."

Norris continued on by saying that McLaren themselves have tried the same thing as Red Bull in previous races: "There have been races in the past when other people have been racing, we try to take it away from others. So yes, it was the logical thing to do, and the smart play by them. Happy for Daniel as well, that’s all."
