Christian Horner has praised the efforts of Sébastien Buemi during the Singapore Grand Prix weekend. Red Bull Racing made an impressive turnaround between Friday and Saturday, which resulted in a front-row grid slot for Max Verstappen. The Dutchman had finished 15th fastest in FP2 the previous day.

Buemi, a former driver for Toro Rosso, had a late night. After the second free practice, he jumped on the simulator in Milton Keynes. "He was consuming plenty of Red Bull to keep him going," laughed Horner. "He played an important part, as does the whole team in working hard with long days and long nights."

After 62 laps of racing in Singapore, Lando Norris was nearly 21 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen at the finish line. The next Formula 1 race takes place towards the end of October and so the team have time to make some changes. "With the benefit of there being no factory shutdown over the next three-week period, it's going to be a busy hive of activity," he said.

Horner continued: "I think the encouraging thing was that the car reacted as we hoped it would and what our tools were telling us, so I think that is the encouraging factor. I think the team is starting to get a direction and an understanding of where some of the limitations and some of the causes of limitations, and that opens up development of parts and veins that will hopefully be productive."

Is Horner confident?

The Austrian team must make up a 41-point deficit in the last six Grands Prix. "I think everybody is massively motivated in the team. We’re still fighting, obviously, for both championships. We took a hit again in the Constructors’ today, but there are still a lot of races to go, and some circuits that we've performed very well at in the past," the British team boss concluded.
